The GMT Master II ref. 16710 is one of the most iconic and influential examples of the brand’s multi-time zone pilot’s watch. It brought an upgraded case and movement to the line, making it a huge success and leading to its impressive production run of almost twenty years. The ref. 16710 was then replaced by the ref. 116710 in the late 2000s as a completely new generation of Rolex GMT-Master tool watches began to make an appearance with a brand new case and bracelet design, improved materials, and a new movement.Rolex developed the GMT-Master in the early 1950s at the request of Pan Am Airlines. Its release came during the dawn of international flight. The famous air carrier required a dual-time wristwatch to issue their pilots, and the GMT-Master was born. The GMT-Master II was released a number of years later in 1983 with the ref. 16760, and brought with it independent hour hands that allow the wearer to read two time zones on the dial and a third on the bezel. The first GMT-Master II ref. 16760 featured a bulkier case and is often referred to by avid collectors as the “Fat Lady” or “Sophia Loren.” In 1989, Rolex would release a refined variation of the Fat Lady GMT in the form of the sleeker reference Rolex 16710 with a thinner case and movement. The ref. 16710 was well-received among collectors for its upgraded case and movement, and it would go on to become one of the most successful GMT-Master II models, remaining in production for nearly twenty years.A completely redesigned version of the stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II was introduced in 2007, which meant the discontinuation of the long-running ref. 16710. The Rolex 116710 is similar in design as its 5-digit predecessor with an all-steel finish, a perpetual movement with independent hour hands, and a bidirectional bezel; however, that’s where its similarities end. The ref. 116710 is almost an entirely new watch and boasts a redesigned bezel, case, bracelet, and dial, as well as the newer Caliber 3186 perpetual movement.

In the world of luxury product acquisition, there are few things more distressing to the mind of a passionate collector than the thought of harm coming to their valued possessions. Yes, nothing in this realm can hold a candle to health or the well-being of one’s loved ones, but these small treasures, often rare or unique (and certainly expensive) hold a special place in the heart of one who has dedicated their time and effort to make them theirs.I am often asked if it is important to insure a collection of used luxury watches. In fact, I am asked it more often then makes conscionable sense to me, because the answer is simple: Yes, yes you should. And more to the point, if you own a luxury watch like a Rolex Submariner (let alone if you own numerous luxury watches) and you’re asking that question, you should save your breath for the insurance provider on the other end of the phone. And that’s really the best place to start. In this digital age, it seems we’ve all become a bit interaction-shy, but with a complex and potentially serious situation like making an insurance claim, it is always best to have set-up your policy having talked directly to another human being – an expert in their field. You really should leave nothing to chance. Don’t be afraid to ask stupid questions – insurance is complicated and rules and regulations vary from country to country (massively) and occasionally, even from region to region. If you move to a new area, don’t just assume that your previous policy will port seamlessly. Check it out. Trust me: It’s worth it.Having lived most of my life in the UK and Germany, I have intimate personal experience with moving a watch collection across borders. And the differences are stark. Some things are easier in some territories, and some things are harder, but the three things you should focus on first when looking into insuring your collection (or single watch) is the total value of your collection, how many “declarable” models you will need to put on your policy, and how all of this can affect your remaining contents insurance. So let’s start with the first point. This is relatively simple. Add up the retail value of the watches in your collection. When doing this, make sure you collate invoices and receipts (if possible) into a physical and digital folder. Scan everything, stick it in a PDF and email a copy to yourself rather than keeping it on your hard-drive alone (it stands to reason that if your property gets turned over your laptop may go the same way as your watches).

VS made this replica with two versions, the stainless steel model and the one with orange rubber strap. Both have a case diameter of 42mm. The first thing that immediately grabs my eyes is its orange bezel, which is made of alloy metal not ceramic, there are black markers on the orange bezel insert. The orange color of bezel perfectly matches the orange color usage on Arabic numeral hours markers at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock.I think no need to give a review on the case and bracelet. I have reviewed a lot of replica watches from VS factory, you know, VS is a big factory, it has the same high popularity as Noob and J12 among our watch fans, so, you do not need to ask too much about the case finish, I will tell you, every replica coming from VS factory will be completed in a perfect level in finish, including this Omega watch. You need to buy one to feel the quality by yourself. Sometimes it is useless to see these pictures, just touch and wear the watch.

IW389001 is in whole black, including the dial, it is the model I prefer. While IW389002 has a green dial. There is one little difference between the two watches on the dial, that is IW389002 has a red circle on the center of the dial to display 12 hours. Two subdials are positioned at 12 and 6 o’clock. The subdial with a small red hand is small seconds subdial, while the subdials at 12 o’clock have two small dials in sunken design, the outer one is 60-minute chronograph counter, while the inner one is 12-hour chronograph counter. All hour markers are in white, the markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock are applied with luminous material, they will emit a strong green light at night.Compared with the green dial of IW389002, I like the black one of IW389001 more. It has a match of white details in blackground, which greatly increases the dial readability. Black looks cooler too.

First, its size is 40.9mm×12.3mm, which can satisfy your requirement in sense of beauty. It is a little big with such diameter, and it is thinner than other normal wrist watch. Using such different size proportion really can give us special feeling in vision. And such unique style is almost revealed in every design details perfectly. Its case was made of solid 316L stainless steel, which is so delicate and bling in appearance. Combining with the scratch-proof sapphire crystal, it is so perfect collocation that has reflected its skillful craftsmanship fully. And also reflects the extraordinary temperament of wearer at the same time. Its dial uses black color, which can highlight its elegance and nobleness. What’s more, It’s markers are in golden, really a good matching with its black dial. It can be more lived with such decoration. Gold and black as main color in the whole, it reveals the style of gentleman. As we all known, In China, gold color means noble, which is only used for king in ancient age, and most of us still has this feeling now.

However, the dials of the gold Sub were not the standard black dials of their stainless steel counterparts.A few years later, around 1971, Rolex offered another colorway of the yellow gold Submariner featuring a bright blue bezel and dial. The yellow gold Submariners in blue also has the same “nipple dial” design. Particularly intriguing with the blue gold Submariner 1680/8 models is how the dials have transformed into different colors over time including lighter blues, vibrant purples, and rich reddish brown (also known as “tropical dials” in vintage Rolex terminology). Comparing the Rolex Submariner to the GMT-Master II.Two watches, perhaps the two most well-known in Rolex’s sports watch lineup, have amazing similarities, and one can be forgiven for confusing them at a distance. These two watches are, of course, the Submariner dive watch (ref. 116610) and the GMT-Master II (we’ll call it the GMT for short, but we’re talking about the current ref. 116710).The Submariner GMT Master Comparison .The individual histories of the Submariner and the GMT are well documented elsewhere, so let’s compare and contrast the two current models.First, the similarities. The Submariner and the GMT-Master II are luxury watches. Both watches are currently housed in the 40mm diameter so-called “super case” with a ceramic or Cerachrom bezel insert. This case, done in 904L stainless steel, debuted in 2007 with the GMT (the Submariner received the new case a year later). There are minute differences in the two cases, but you need to set them side by side and look very closely to see them. Both watches buckle to your wrist with the current Oyster bracelet.
