As the Rolex Pearlmaster is just as much an item of jewelry as it is a precision timekeeping instrument, every single Rolex watch in the collection is set with some amount of diamonds/gemstones. The degree of gem-setting (and the type/color of the gems themselves) can vary significantly from one Pearlmaster watch to the next. A modest example may “only” have 12 diamonds set into its solid-gold bezel, while the more extravagant and expensive models can have completely diamond-encrusted cases and bracelets, with rainbow-colored sapphire-set bezels, and diamond-paved dials.At its core, the Pearlmaster is essentially an ultra-premium, luxury-oriented Datejust. Like other Datejust watches, the Rolex Pearlmaster is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a Cyclops magnification lens and a Twinlock winding crown that uses a system of gaskets to create two sealed zones to protect against moisture intrusion. Consequently, despite its solid 18k gold construction and lavish application of various gemstones, the Rolex Pearlmaster still has a water-resistance rating of 100 meters and is just as functional for everyday use as any other Rolex watch.While it may have identical functionality to the standard Datejust collection, the Pearlmaster is about as far a departure from Rolex’s tool-watch history and aesthetics as you are likely to find in their contemporary catalog. However, as Rolex continues to assume a more luxury-oriented position within the high-end timepiece market, the use of precious metals and gemstones in their watches is becoming an increasingly common practice. The Rolex Pearlmaster has as much to offer in terms of gold-work and gem-setting as it does in the precision timekeeping department, making it the perfect timepiece for those that want a watch that sits at the crossroads of jewelry and horology.
But as so often happens, any objections were short-lived. Fairly soon after its arrival, the LV (standing for Lunette Verte, or green bezel) started attracting much more of the right kind of attention, with devotees learning to appreciate the eccentricities. It also had the definite whiff of a future classic, something that set collectors with one eye on future monetary gains to gravitate towards it.As it turned out, they were right. Just seven years after its introduction, the Kermit was withdrawn to make way for the ref. 116610LV. Now housed in the beefed-up Super Case, this new piece added a green dial to match the bezel, leading to it being known colloquially as the Hulk.A short run of an unusual edition of a true industry giant has seen prices for the Kermit far outstrip the equivalent classic black models, and should be set to only get higher with time. Definitely one to consider.This one is a real puzzler. There hasn’t been a black and red bezel GMT-Master (much better known as the ‘Coke’) since 2007. That was when the last reference to offer the option, the ref. 16710, was scrubbed from the lineup. This means that there has never been a Cerachrom example of this archetypal and hugely popular Rolex color scheme, which we originally saw debut on the very first of the GMT-Master II references way back in 1983, the ref. 16760 (nicknamed the ‘Fat Lady’).The red and black had enough of a distinction from the blue and red bezel pieces to warrant its place, and as we all know, the ‘Pepsi’ has been (and still is) a massive seller for the brand.
Today, I was just back from our traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, it is time to share the latest news in our watch industry, within these days, there were a lot of new watches published in our market. For example, Noob published Super Clone 4130 Daytona V3 edition and GMT-Master II 126710 Blue/Red, OM factory unveiled a lot of Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches, VS factory made some stunning Omega Seamaster watches, etc. Among these new watches, the most attractive should belong to the GMT-Master II made by Noob factory.At the beginning of 2019, Noob only published one Rolex GMT-Master II, that is Blue/Black 116710BLNR, that is the only one GMT-Master II from Noob made with 904L stainless steel. After that, Noob put their emphasis on Daytona watches, in September, the Daytona products with 904L stainless steel and Super Clone 4130 movement have been upgraded to V3 edition, we must admit that currently Noob factory has the best replica Daytona. However, in researching and developing other Rolex models, especially GMT-Master II, Noob has fallen behind other factories like GMF. But if we look at the Submariner, you’ll notice it always has a dark face. The most common is the black dial, but the blue and green dial Submariners are incredibly popular as well. What defines the face are those beautiful rounded, lume hour plots which pop against the dark colors of the dial. To break it up, you’ll also find an inverse triangle up at 12-o’clock and down at the 6 and 9 o’clock locations, there are rectangular lume plots.Of course, over at three there is the date window under a sapphire crystal cyclops lens. And swinging around the dial are those world-famous Mercedes hands which are also outfitted with easy-to-read lume. The dial of the Submariner is quite simple yet stylish and versatile, which is what draws a lot of people to this iconic model.
